Potomac Inline Hockey (PIHI) is still accepting registrations for its Youth, High School, and Adult fall inline hockey season. There are free Learn-to-Play sessions for youth to help get acquainted with the sport. The fall season runs September thru December with all practices and games held indoors at The Box Inline Hockey Arena in Chantilly. PIHI is a not-for-profit volunteer-based organization that offers inline hockey programs for all ages and levels of play, from beginners to advanced, as well as camps, clinics and travel level programs. The Southwestern Youth Association will be holding its annual Executive Board of Directors Election Meeting on Thursday, Sept. 4 at 7:30 p.m. in Centreville Public Library, Meeting Room 1. The SYA Executive Board of Directors positions are for a one-year term and include the following positions: President, Vice-President, Secretary and Treasurer. Support your local youth SYA Cheerleaders and get your car washed at Austin Grill this Saturday, Aug. 23 from noon to 3 p.m. Additionally, on Sunday, Aug. 24 is SYA Cheer Night at Austin Grill. Austin Grill will contribute a portion of the sales to SYA Cheerleading!

The Westfield Athletic Booster Club is hosting a Fall Golf Outing to raise money for Capital Improvements for Westfield Athletic programs. The tournament will be held Monday, Sept. 29 at Chantilly National Golf and Country Club. The Shotgun start will be at 11 a.m. Tournament Entry fee is $200 per individual which includes the round of golf, lunch and dinner, gifts, and awards, Co-chairing the event are Todd Hicks (todd.hicks@thomsonreuters.com) and John Debell( jdebell@aol.com). The Westfields Golf Club at 13940 Balmoral Greens Ave., Clifton, is hosting its Family Golf Festival on Sunday, Aug. 24. The Marriott International Family Golf Festival, which encourages parents and children to learn and play the game together, invites families to Westfields Golf Club for an afternoon of free golf activities and instruction, including short game and full swing. The afternoon will begin with a complimentary lunch from 1-2 p.m. for all participants. A clinic will follow and will include four stations, providing instruction on full swing fundamentals, chipping, putting, and rules/etiquette from the Westfields Golf Club Professional Staff. During the clinic, participants will have the chance to win a variety of prizes in various contests. At 5 p.m., all families are invited to play the course at Westfields for $39 per adult, while children can play for free as part of Marriott’s Kids-Golf-4-Free program. The Loudoun South Eagles Gold 12U team seeks experienced players to participate in Fall 2008 and Spring 2009 seasons. The CYA Fusion is a rising U13 Girls Team playing in the Old Dominion Soccer League (ODSL) and is looking for a few good players. Team goals are to develop players and have fun! Putt for a purpose and help raise funds and awareness for MS at the MS Longest Day of Golf to benefit the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. Get a foursome together and spend an entire weekday in August or September playing golf at an area club like participating sponsors Burke Lake Golf Center, Chantilly National Golf and Country Club, Pinecrest Golf Course, Twin Lakes Golf Course, Westfields Golf Club, and Jefferson District Golf Course. The Ashburn-based NOVA "NFL" Youth Flag Football League 2008 Fall League Season registration is now taking place online at www.novaflag.com. The League is open to all children ages 5-14 years of age. The Chantilly Youth Association (CYA) Boys U17 Vikings Soccer team (players born after Aug. 1990) is seeking several players. In addition to spring and fall outdoor league, the Vikings participate in training, summer camp, tournaments and optional indoor league in the winter. Play will accommodate high school schedules and demands. The team practices and plays on all-weather, artificial turf fields. Excellent house players or U16 players are welcome. The U-16 Manassas Magic is holding open tryouts for the Spring 2008 season, with specific interest in goalkeepers. The Magic is trained by a former Div. 1 WAGS and George Mason soccer player who brings a young, enthusiastic, and energetic style to the team. The coach of the Magic holds a National D license. (FAS), a non-profit organization, prides itself on the success of its program from the continued support of its volunteers. The Ron Bullock Volunteer of the Year award was created to recognize the one person who has made a substantial commitment to volunteering and improving the FAS program. This award is given to an individual that has demonstrated outstanding volunteer service over the course of 12 months.
