Jimmy's Annual Summer Golf Tournament. This year's event will take place Monday, Aug. 4 with a shotgun start at 9 a.m. at the Herndon Golf Course, 909 Ferndale Ave. The event is sponsored by Jimmy's Old Town Tavern and proceeds benefit the Herndon Council for the Arts. Call 703-471-5769.

National Night Out. A community crime and drug prevention event designed to strengthen the bonds between the local police force and the Herndon community.
