Congregation Yad Shalom, located in Centreville, provides a variety of programs in a traditional format with a modern flair. It openly invites inquiries about participation in these activities by the community. There are a number of activities for the family for the new year:

* Ask about the K-2 Hebrew school for the children. Check out the opportunities for the winter semester and the educational opportunities with the congregation.

* March 15 at 9 a.m. Shalom Jewish Children program about Purim. Experience one of the most fun holidays for children. Bake hamantaschen, make noise, design a costume, sing silly songs and hear a great story. Free and open to the public. To be held at Little Rocky Run Rec Center #3.

* Join the congregation for a Friday night service with Cantor Zucker on March 28 at 8 p.m. at Little Rocky Run Community Center # 3.

* The children will enjoy playing special games and celebrating their Jewish heritage. Meets with the Jewish community on Saturday, March 29 at Little Rocky Run Community Center # 3 at 9 a.m.

* April 12 at 9 a.m. Shalom Jewish Children program about Passover. Make a project to use at the seder, act out the songs, snack, listen to story time and hop like frogs with new friends. Free and open to the public. To be held at Little Rocky Run Rec Center #3.

* Passover Seder for the entire community. All are welcome. The cost is $25/adult and $15/child or max of $60/family. Wonderful food, spirited singing, and story-telling. RSVP by April 13 to yadshalom@yadshalom.com.

Wellspring Church worships this Sunday for communion and preaching by Pastor Kendal Brown, founder of City of Refuge in Washington, D.C. There will be a special food offering for the pantry at Western Fairfax Christian Ministries. Sunday worship is at 11 a.m., at the chapel on Route 29, 13510 Lee Highway, Centreville. The chapel is on the north side of Route 29, just west of the Lee Highway-Union Mill Rd. intersection.

Sunday School for children meets during the worship hour. A fellowship hour with fair-trade coffee and treats follows the worship, and visitors are welcome.

Several Northern Virginia churches are sponsoring a New Career Conference on March 7-8, for people who have a desire to serve God in ministries. This conference will explain how to leverage your individual experience, skills and gifts for new assignments that make eternal sense. Workshops and assessment interviews will be conducted by various missions agencies during the conference. Recovery and Support Care Groups at New Life: Passion for Community in cooperation with New Life Christian Church has an ongoing recovery and support groups for people suffering with various addictions, destructive and dysfunctional behaviors, or who just need some support. Temple Beth Torah is a Reform Jewish congregation and member of the Union of Reform Judaism (URJ) that meets at St. John's Episcopal Church in Centreville. Centreville United Methodist Church offers four worship services in the morning — 8:15 a.m., 9:30 a.m., 11 a.m. and 11:02 a.m. The new Connections Contemporary Worship Service is held in the ROC (Recreation and Outreach Center) each Sunday. The Fairfax Chinese Christian Church welcomes the public. It is a developing community church that meets at St. John's Episcopal Church, 5649 Mount Gilead Road, Centreville. The church is located in the heart of Centreville's historic district and is accessible from Braddock Road at the junction of Route 28 (Lee Hwy.), Route 29 and I-66. They speak Mandarin, Taiwanese, Cantonese, and some other Chinese dialects in the church.
