Army Spec. Landon L. Freeman has been mobilized and activated at Fort Dix, N.J., for a deployment overseas to a forward operating base in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. The soldier is a member of the 1175th Military Police Company, a national guard unit based in St. Clair, Mo. Freeman, a military police member, has served in the military for four years. He is the son of Richard L. Freeman of Springfield and Barbara J. Freeman of Rolla, Mo.

Army National Guard Maj. Michael W. Duplechain has been mobilized and activated at Fort Dix, N.J., for a deployment overseas to a forward operating base in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. The soldier is a member of the 158th Calvary, Annapolis, Md. His wife, Molly, is the daughter of Fredrick Peters and Linda Peters, both of Springfield.

Navy Airman Jeffrey A. Biallas, son of Barbara A. and David A. Biallas of Springfield, was promoted to his current rank upon graduation from the Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill. Biallas, a 2002 graduate of West Springfield High School, received the early promotion for outstanding performance during all phases of the training cycle.

Navy Seaman Bruce A. Sanderson, son of Vicky R. Baker of Alexandria and George H. Sanderson of Kenton, Ohio, recently completed U.S. Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill. Sanderson is a 2002 graduate of Thomas A. Edison High School.

South Riding.

Air Force Airman Borden J. Oh has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. Oh earned distinction as an honor graduate. He is the son of Benjamin Oh of Springfield, and brother of Carl Silverlock of South Riding. The airman is a 2007 graduate of Freedom High School.

Justin T. Atkinson has graduated from the Army ROTC Leader's Training Course at Fort Knox, Ky. The cadet is a student at James Madison University, Harrisonburg. Atkinson is the son of William T. and Beverly T. Atkinson of Grey Fox Drive, Springfield, and a 2005, Atkinson graduate of West Springfield High School.
