Children of Divorce. Through four interactive group sessions, children (ages 11-14) will learn that they are not alone in the divorce process. Art, role-playing, letter-writing, self-esteem exercises and verbalization of feelings provide the tools for them to remain hopeful and positive. Parents will meet separately for two sessions to learn how to identify distress signals and better help their children through this process. Wootton High School Football is holding Basic Training, a football mini-camp for youth entering grades 3-8. The Youth Programs division of Montgomery College’s Workforce Development and Continuing Education offers both full and half-day courses. The summer programs allow youth to explore new areas of interest or receive in-depth instruction in their favorite subjects. Courses are taught at each of the College’s three campuses – Germantown, Rockville and Takoma Park/Silver Spring. Art classes for toddlers, karate, dance and magic-trick lessons for children, fencing lessons for teens and yoga for adults are a few of the courses offered by the Montgomery County Recreation Department at Potomac Community Center. The Eastern Montgomery Regional Services Center, in conjunction with the African Immigrant and Refugee Foundation, has added a series of daytime ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) classes for adults. The classes will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:30 a.m.-12 p.m., and will run for 20 consecutive weeks. The center is located at 3300 Briggs Chaney Road, Silver Spring. Child care will be provided at no charge. The classes are free, but a $10 refundable deposit and $16 book fee are required.
