Babysitters training for boys and girls age 12 and older will be offered at the Vienna Community Center, 120 Cherry St. SE, on Saturday, March 29, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. A certified American Red Cross instructor will teach basic child care, safety, first aid, and what to do in emergency situations. Conflict Management for Teens class: Learn defense skills, recognize personal boundaries, manage conflict, build healthy relationships and keep safe in difficult situations. This course, for ages 11-15, taught by instructors from Prevention Education for Adults, Children and Teens, will be held at the Vienna Community Center, 120 Cherry St. SE, each Wednesday, April 2-23, 4-5:30 p.m. The cost is $25 for town residents. Writing Your Personal History is an informal, group-run class for people interested in documenting their life stories. Class will be held at the Community Center each Thursday, April 3-Aug. 14, 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Class members select topics about which to write, and read their work to each other for supportive feedback. Monday morning walkers will visit local trails and scenic neighborhoods in the Vienna area on Mondays, April 7-May 12, 10-11 a.m. The fee of $5 for town residents includes a guide for each walk, trail maps, and written materials. For information, call 703-255-6360.

Copies of the proposed Town of Vienna budget for fiscal year 2008-09 will be available for public review beginning Wednesday, April 9, in the Administrative Services Office at Vienna Town Hall and at Patrick Henry Community Library, 101 Maple Ave. E. Supermarket tour at Vienna’s Giant Food store will be given Wednesday, April 9, 1-3:30 p.m. Registered dietitian Denise Feil will help you develop a personalized nutrition plan and teach you how to read food labels and analyze ingredients to determine which products are the best for your dietary needs. $40 for town residents. Resting metabolic rate testing will be offered at the Vienna Community Center, 120 Cherry St. SE, Wednesday, April 9, noon-1 p.m. A registered dietician will determine your daily caloric needs to help you achieve your weight loss goals.
