A former local track star at Radford University was one of 26 competitors in the top three of various events during the Radford Invitational, the only home track meet this season, at Cupp Stadium on April 26.
Radford junior Dawit Legesse, a 2005 Lee graduate, finished second in the 5,000-meter run (15:23.35). A couple of weeks earlier, he finished eighth in the Big South Championship, running a 15:25.43.
Freshman Eric Adams, also a Lee graduate, is a distance runner.
The Highlanders men’s and women’s teams finished sixth in the Big South Championship, and are scheduled to compete next on May 16 at North Carolina in the North Carolina Elite meet. The regional championships for those who have qualified is scheduled for May 30.
