The Dominion Educational Partnership Program is awarding $28,000 in educational grants to six schools in Northern Virginia to help strengthen math and science skills of students in grades kindergarten-12. Dominion Trail Elementary received $2,000, to develop a raised colonial garden that will allow students to study environmental science as well as social studies and art.

The Briar Woods High School Music Boosters Association will be holding its fall citrus fruit sale, through Oct. 27. For every purchase of a box of fruit from a Briar Woods music student, Florida Indian River Groves will contribute more than 40 percent of the total purchases to the Briar Woods Music Boosters, a parent/teacher organization that provides volunteer and financial support for the Briar Woods High School music programs. Two Ashburn-area schools will hold dedication ceremonies Sunday, Oct. 19. Steuart W. Weller Elementary School, 20700 Marblehead Drive, Ashburn, takes place at 1 p.m. Creighton’s Corner Elementary School, 23171 Minerva Drive, Ashburn, takes place at 4 p.m.
