<b>Saturday/Oct. 25

</b>Ghost Train at Burke Lake Park.10 a.m.-5:15 p.m. Ride the Ghost Train through the Haunted Woods, past the Witches Junction and through the Fairytale Loop. Appropriate for children through age 10. Costume Halloween Run, 9 a.m.-12 p.m. at Burke Lake Park’s picnic shelter A, 7315 Ox Road, Fairfax Station. Ages 13 and up start at 9 a.m., ages 12 and under start at 9:15 a.m. $5 for age 12 and under, $10 for age 13 and up. Reservations required. 703-866-0566.

Howloween Dog Talent Show, Costume Contest and Boneyard Hunt. 2-4 p.m. at Lake Accotink Park, 7550 Accotink Park Road, Springfield. A costume contest is followed by a walk through a “boneyard” to sniff out treats. All dogs must be leashed and friendly. $5. </b>21th Annual Mall-O-Ween at Fair Oaks Mall. Children are invited to dress in costume and trick-or-treat from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Fountain Court will be stocked with dry ice to add an eerie atmosphere. Costumed characters will greet children. Fair Oaks Mall, 11750 Fair Oaks Mall, Fairfax. Free.

Jubilee Christian Center "Trunk or Treat" Halloween alternative for families and children on Friday, Oct. 31, from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at 4650 Shirley Gate Road, Fairfax. The event is free, and features a hayride, laser tag, moon bounce and other games, prizes, food and candy. There will be a contest for the best decorated vehicle trunk.
