Behind the play of senior quarterback Charlie Fuller and senior running back Keith Johnson, the Washington-Lee Generals took down Stuart, 40-22, last Friday night. It was the Generals third-straight win and fourth in their past five games.
The victory ensures that Washington-Lee (5-3 overall, 3-1 National District) will finish with at least a .500 record and bodes well for the team’s playoff chances. The last time the Generals finished with a winning record was 1993, but the team missed out on the postseason that year.
Fuller and Johnson combined for nearly 260 yards on the ground and five total touchdowns.
Next up for Washington-Lee is a road contest with powerhouse Edison this Friday followed by its highly anticipated rivalry match up with nearby Yorktown on Halloween night, a game that will have plenty of playoff seeding implications as well. The Generals have not beaten Yorktown since 1982.
