Sailors help Raise More Than $170,000

On Sept. 7, the 15th annual Leukemia Cup Regatta blew pervious Regattas out of the water by raising an unprecedented $170,000. The Washington Sailing Marina hosted more than 150 sailors for a morning of racing on the water followed by a post-race celebration. The Leukemia Cup Regatta recognizes winners of the race, but the trophy is awarded to the team that raises the most dollars to fund blood cancer research and patient services. For the second year in a row, the Dickson family was awarded this honor for raising more than $23,000, a combined effort by all five members of the family: Tim, Albie and their three sons Mac, Campbell & Brody. The Leukemia Cup Regatta was the culmination of a Leukemia Cup Series, which began on Aug. 16 with a Junior Regatta and was followed by a Poker Run on Aug. 24.
