North Ridge

North Ridge denizens who are getting ready for the holidays should mark their calendars now for two traditional neighborhood events: the North Ridge Citizens' Association Christmas tree sale and the caroling and tree lighting ceremony.

The Christmas tree sale will be held at the Beverley Hills Methodist Church ("BHUMC") on Saturday, Dec. 12 from 7 to 5 and Sunday, Dec. 13 from 9 to 4. Tree varieties will include Douglas and Fraser Fir and Colorado Blue Spruce. Most trees are grown and freshly cut by our supplier in West Virginia and are trucked in Friday night. The church is one block up the hill from the corner of Old Dominion and West Glebe Road. The very best trees go fast, so be warned. Many neighbors show up early Saturday to get the best selection.

The Christmas caroling and tree lighting ceremony is scheduled for Tuesday, Dec. 22 at 7 (half an hour earlier this year than in the past) at Beverley Park (a/k/a "The Pit") at the corner of North Overlook and South Overlook. The family event will feature carol singing, a visit by Santa, and a NRCA "citizen-of-the-year" honoree who will light the tree. Donuts and hot cider will be served. Remember to bring flashlights.
