Participants, family, friends and supporters of Fairfax Adult Softball Inc. (FAS) united together on Sunday, Jan. 25, 2009, for the 9th Annual Bowling Tournament to benefit Northern Virginia Special Olympics and Fairfax County Park Authority field improvements. Some 225 participants contributed their time and spirits to raise over $9,200 in this year’s tournament. The FAS President, John Carney, was elated with the success of this venture. Virginia Elite Volleyball Club (VA Elite), in partnership with Northern Virginia Volleyball Association (NVVA), will host an open volleyball clinic and presentation for players and parents on Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 7 and 8. Open clinics will be led by 2008 Olympic women’s volleyball assistant coach Tom Hogan, Olympic silver-medalist Stacy Sykora, and USA Volleyball’s top clinician, five-time Olympic staffer and team leader, John Kessel.

All player clinics will be held on Saturday, Feb. 7 at The Madeira School and Oakton High School with additional player clinics held on Sunday, Feb. 8, 2009 at Lifetime Fitness in Ashburn.

Spring 2009 Registration Now Open. Registration is open through Feb. 8. Registration fee is $90 per player. Late fees will apply to registrations received Feb. 9 through Feb. 21. Late registration fee is $110 per player.

Managers/Coaches Wanted. Youth Baseball is actively seeking additional coaches for the Spring 2009 season. If you are interested, send an email to youthbaseball@chantillyyouth.org. All of the coaches will get to participate in a coaches training clinic, and will have support from the league throughout the season.

About Chantilly Youth Baseball (T-Ball & Coach Pitch). Youth Baseball is a co-educational, non competitive entry league for 5- and 6-year-old players. The focus of the league is to develop the player’s baseball skills while keeping a safe and fun environment. Teams typically practice one night per week, and games are played on Saturdays. Occasionally, games are held at night during the week. T-Ball is for first time players & Coach Pitch is for 6-year-old players who have completed a season of T-Ball. The 10U Leesburg Revolution Girl's Fastpitch travel team has now completed a successful Fall 2008 season and they will return to action in January to start preparing for the Spring season. The Revolution are actively recruiting girls from all over Northern Virginia who are interested in playing travel softball. The Revs have two rosters spots that need to be filled. Play Soccer in Italy — AC Cugini Soccer, affiliated with Italian premier league club ACF Fiorentina, is conducting tryouts in Reston through December for guest spots on its special Italy tournament teams traveling to Florence, Italy, the Italian Adriatic, and Bologna, June 18-July 3, 2009. The Chantilly Youth Association (CYA) Boys U17 Vikings Soccer team (players born after Aug. 1990) is seeking several players.
