Fairfax County is recruiting Meals on Wheels volunteers to deliver meals to the county’s older residents. Opportunities are available throughout the county and volunteers are matched to programs in or near their own neighborhoods. Volunteers can commit to a weekly, biweekly, monthly or substitute schedule. Meals are delivered Mondays-Fridays, 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Call 703-324-5406 or e-mail DFSAAAvolunteer@fairfaxccounty.gov.

Become a volunteer stream monitor and help Reston Association assess the health of our streams. Assist with stream monitoring at several locations throughout Reston during all season. A training workshop will be held Feb. 11, 7:30-9:30 p.m. at 1930 Isaac Newton Square, Reston. Contact Ha Brock, Volunteer Coordinator, at 703-435-7986.

The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program is seeking volunteers to deliver free tax preparation services at no cost to working families and individuals. Volunteers contribute a few hours weekly during tax season to help prepare tax returns, or serve as greeters, screeners, site coordinators and interpreters. The Reston Festival Committee is looking for volunteers to assist with the 2009 Reston Festival scheduled for July 11-12.
