All-state for Wakefield Soccer; AYFC looking for coaches

All-State for Wakefield Soccer

After a spectacular regular season that included a 10-0-1 beginning to the year, the Virginia High School Coaches Association announced that two Wakefield boys’ soccer players were tabbed as all-state selections.

Midfielder Christian Castro was named first team all-state, while teammate Luis Estrada, who led the Warrior defense as a full back, was named honorable mention all-state.

Wakefield finished the season 13-3-3, falling to Thomas Jefferson in the regional quarterfinals.

AYFC Looking for Coaches

The Arlington Youth Football Club is recruiting adult coaches for its youth tackle football program. Information and contacts are available at www.aflva.com. The AYFC competes in the Fairfax County Youth Football League and fields a variety of teams based on the age, weight, and skill level. Coaches must pass a comprehensive background check and must obtain certification from USA Football by completing two online courses (free of charge). Previous coaching experience is not necessary and AYFC will assist new coaches in preparations.
