Centre View Sports Briefs Aug. 26 - Sept. 2

<b>Church Group Holding Golf Tournament</b>

The Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) will be hosting its annual NOVA FCA Golf Classic at South Riding Golf Course on Monday, Sept. 28.

The event is one of the FCA’s main fundraisers for the year and the group hopes to raise enough money to get two new full time area representatives in area schools to work with athletes and coaches.

<b>SYA Basketball Interviewing Coaches</b>

The Southwestern Youth Association is currently looking for coaches for the upcoming winter season.

Interviews for coaches begin on Sept. 7 and coaching applications can be found online at www.syasports.org.

The ideal applicant has a love of the game and can develop players using various resources that are provided by SYA.

Applicants are not required to have previous coaching experience.

The season starts on Oct. 1 and runs through February.

<b>SYA Board Meeting</b>

The Southwestern Youth Association will be holding its annual Executive Board of Directors Election Meeting on Thursday, Sept. 10.

The meeting will be held in the SYA Office at 5950 Centreville Crest Lane. The start time is 7 p.m.

Board of Directors positions are for a one-year term and include the following positions: president, vice-president, secretary and treasurer.

Nominations are currently being accepted and may be submitted to the SYA Office at syaboard@verizon.net. Applicants must be in good standing with the SYA and at least 21 years of age.
