<b>Correction</b>

In the Sept. 16 edition sports section of the Springfield Connection, we incorrectly identified a West Springfield cross country runner as Paige Kvartunas. The pictured runner was actually Alex Watt. The Connection regrets the error.

<b>Bruins Field Hockey Trounces Langley</b>

The Lake Braddock Secondary School varsity field hockey team ended a three-game losing streak on Sept. 21, with a 4-0 victory against Langley High School.

Lake Braddock’s goals were scored by Taylor Livick, Melanie Brodner, Maria Pastor and Brittany Hopkins.

Goalies Danielle Smith and Cara Wiedinger recorded shutouts in net.

The young Bruins team, which doesn’t have a single senior on the roster, is currently 5-6 on the season.

Lake Braddock’s next game is on Sept. 24 against Annandale High School (4-5).

<b>Submit Youth Sports Headlines</b>

The local youth football, tennis, volleyball and cheerleading seasons have started and the Connection doesn’t want any child’s accomplishments to go unnoticed.

<b>Church Group Hosts Golf Tournament</b>

The Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) will be hosting its annual NOVA FCA Golf Classic at South Riding Golf Course on Monday, Sept. 28.

The event is one of the FCA’s main fund raisers for the year and the group hopes to raise enough money to get two new full time area representatives in area schools to work with athletes and coaches.
