On the weekend of March 17 and 18, the Madison Chess team played six rounds of outstanding chess at Tysons Corner and took home the 3rd place trophy. Individual trophy winners included Paul Psarakis for 15th place, John Nothaft –best under 1200 rated-player, and Ben Ostapovicz–best under 1000, Raphael Ordonez–Best Unrated.
The Madison team members who contributed to the win at States were Christopher Liu, John Nothaft, Rafael Ordonez, Alec Ostapovicz, Benjamin Ostapovicz and Paul Psarakis.
The team traveled to other schools across Fairfax County System year round competing in the Metro Chess League. With three key seniors graduating it is looking for new members.
