Arrests Made in Merrifield Area Sex Assault

On Friday, May 11, around 1:10 a.m., a 50-year-old woman was sexually assaulted behind a building in the 2400 block of Gallows Road.

The woman was struck with a blunt object by two men and sexually assaulted. The suspects also took cash from the victim before fleeing on foot in an unknown direction.

Intense investigation by police and evidence collected at the scene has led to the arrest of two suspects. On Sunday, May 13, police charged a 34-year-old man, of no fixed address, with rape and aggravated malicious wounding. On May 15, police chargeda 24-year-old man, of no fixed address, with rape and aggravated malicious wounding.

Vienna Parking Tickets Now Payable Online

Individuals are now able to pay online for parking citations received within the Town of Vienna. Previously, customers had to drop off their payment or mail a check to the Finance Department in Town Hall in order to pay for parking violations. Now, through the Town’s online payment portal, individuals can pay their Vienna parking violations online with debit or credit.

Customers can pay using Visa, Mastercard, Discover or American Express credit or debit cards. Each violation will incur a $1.25 processing fee charged by the vendor.

In addition to paying parking tickets online, customers are also able to complete payments for vehicle license fees, Vienna real estate taxes, and water and sewer bills.

Town Offices Observe Memorial Day

Town of Vienna offices will be closed on Monday, May 28, in observance of the Memorial Day holiday. The Vienna Community Center will be open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and no classes will be held. Garbage collection will operate as normal on Monday, May 28.

May 25 Movie in the Park Cancelled

The Movie in the Park scheduled for Friday, May 25, has been cancelled due to the Memorial Day holiday.

The Movie in the Park series turns Glyndon Park, 300 Glyndon Street NE, into an outdoor movie theater and the public is invited to attend this free event and enjoy your favorite family movies.

Movies begin at 8:45 p.m. or at dusk, whichever comes first. In case of inclement weather, call the weather line at 703-255-7842 two hours before show time for event information. Parents and family members are required to stay with their children.

Audition for Vienna Youth Players’ Summer Production

Auditions for the Vienna Youth Players' summer musical production "Footloose" will be held Wednesday, May 30 and Saturday, June 2 at the Vienna Community Center, 120 Cherry St., S.E. Youngsters age 11 through 18 are invited to audition.

Call the Vienna Parks and Recreation Department at 703-255-6360 to schedule an audition and for more information.

Footloose will be performed on August 3, 4, 10 and 11 at 7:30 p.m. and August 12 at 1 p.m. at the Vienna Community Center. Tickets go on sale July 9.
