Martin Luther King Holiday Schedule

Town of Herndon government offices and services will be impacted by the Martin Luther King holiday, Monday, Jan. 21, as follows:

Town offices—closed Monday, Jan. 21.

Refuse collection—refuse will not be collected. Refuse normally collected on Monday will be collected Tuesday, Jan. 22.

Herndon Community Center—open 6 a.m.–9:30 p.m., classes held as scheduled.

Herndon Centennial Golf Course—open 8 a.m.–dark (weather permitting).

Herndon MOMS Club to Hold Open House

Herndon MOMS Club Open House will be held on Jan. 17.

Interested in ways to get you and your family volunteering in the community? The MOMS Club® of Herndon’s 2013 Open House will feature a variety of non-profit volunteer organizations to discuss ways families with young children can get involved. The Open House will feature representatives from VolunteerFairfax, Maddie’s Blankets, Fairfax ReLeaf, Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and more.

Join the discussion on family-focused volunteerism on Thursday, Jan. 17, at ArtSpace (750 Center Street, Herndon) from 10 a.m.–noon. As always, children of all ages are invited to attend. There will be door prizes and refreshments. The club members will also be making Valentines for wounded U.S. veterans returning to Northern Virginia.

Senior Center Needs a Volunteer Musician

The Herndon Senior Center, 873 Grace Street, Herndon, needs a volunteer musician to play soothing music for participants. The center has a piano.
