Opening Up a World’s Worth of Reading

— The Reading Connection opened its 12th Read-Aloud site on Feb. 25, at the Columbia Grove property of the Arlington Partnership for Affordable Housing.

The Read-Aloud program is The Reading Connection’s signature program, in which volunteer readers go to shelters and affordable housing apartments to read with children, talk and do projects with them and give away a free book to each child.

The Read-Aloud program is carried entirely by volunteers who have been trained by The Reading Connection. In 2012, 450 children participated in its Read-Aloud program and received 3,500 new books.
