Irish Singer in Fairfax to Launch Irish Music Festival

Traditional Irish singer Mae Hernon along with Celtic Font will be appearing at the Auld Shebeen Restaurant & Pub, in the City of Fairfax on Feb. 22 from noon to 4 p.m. The event, which is cosponsored by Wild West Irish Tours of Springfield and Sligo Tourism (Ireland) for the U.S. launch of Fleadh Cheoil, the world's biggest Irish music festival being held in August in the town of Sligo in northwest Ireland. Hernon will perform traditional music and dance of her hometown of Gurteen in County Sligo, Ireland. There will also be a visual presentation on Sligo and the Northwest region of Ireland. A drawing for a free Wild West Irish Tour will be held to benefit the Irish Vietnam Veterans Memorial Project. Admission is free and there will be a full lunch menu available.
