West Potomac Senior to Play in National Festival

Erika Larsen, a senior at West Potomac High School, will join other musicians from across the nation as part of Music for All’s 2015 Honor Orchestra of America. She is the daughter of Steve and Cheri Larsen. Erika is a member of the Symphonic Winds under the direction of Stephen H. Rice at WPHS and principal flute with the Washington Metropolitan Youth Orchestra under the direction of Dr. Henry Sgrecci. She studies at the studio of Charlotte Day.

Erika plays flute and piccolo and was selected to rehearse and perform in concert as part of the Music for All National Festival, presented by Yamaha, March 11-14 in Indianapolis, Ind.

The Honor Orchestra of America students will first come together, from 22 states representing 51 high schools, on Wednesday, March 11 and will perform in concert Friday and Saturday nights, March 13-14, at Hilbert Circle Theatre in Indianapolis, Ind. The orchestra is performing shared concerts with the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra.

Erika began playing at age 10 and has achieved numerous accolades and honors including selection to the VBODA Virginia All State bands for the past three years, Boston University Tanglewood Institute and the U.S. Army All American Bowl Marching Band.
