Homeowner Shoots Burglary Suspect in Mount Vernon area of Alexandria

Charges are pending an investigation for a 27-year-old northern Virginia man who was shot while allegedly attempting to enter a private residence on the 5700 block of Lenore Lane in Alexandria, according to Fairfax County Police.

Officers responded to a report of a burglary around 8:40 a.m. on March 17. They identified the homeowner as a 48-year-old man, who shot the stranger in the upper body with a handgun. A stun gun, the apparent weapon of the suspect, was also recovered.

Police apprehended the injured suspect after he retreated on foot to Telegraph Road and tried to hail a school bus going by the intersection.

After being taken to a hospital, the suspect’s injuries were described as non-life threatening.
