Dr Garza to Speak at Dulles Chamber Luncheon

Our educational system, one of the strongest drivers of quality of life in Fairfax County, is in trouble. Class sizes continue to rise due to the heavy influx of new students. Teacher salaries have not stayed competitive with surrounding school systems. Testing continues to steal time from classroom teaching. The county’s education budget shows a shortfall of one hundred million dollars. What solutions are possible? How should the school system prioritize its game plan going forward? What role can the public play in effecting those solutions?

On Oct. 20, the Dulles Regional Chamber luncheon featured speaker is Fairfax County Public Schools Superintendent, Dr. Karen Garza. This is an opportunity for the community to ask questions, express concerns about our educational system and learn ways in which the private sector can help restore our educational system, a major driver of economic development and quality of life for our region.

Register now for the luncheon at www.dulleschamber.org. The event is being held at the Holiday Inn Washington Dulles on Holiday Drive in Sterling on Tuesday, Oct. 20, 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. Pre-registered member price: $50; at the door and non-members $65.

Klas Telecom Relocates to Herndon

Klas Telecom, an engineering and design company that specializes in network edge communications technology, unveiled its new U.S. government sales headquarters in Herndon on Friday, Oct. 9. The move will more than double the company’s old office space in Washington, D.C. and add areas for technology demonstrations, training, labs and executive briefings. Klas Telecom CEO John Gallagher stated that the need for additional space to accommodate the company’s record growth over the last two years warrants the relocation. “This new headquarters allows us to grow our business and make room for the future,” Gallagher said. The new location is at 450 Springpark Place, Suite 1200, Herndon.
