Scott’s Run Nature Preserve is located at 7400 Georgetown Pike in McLean. It is one of only a few nature preserves in the Fairfax County Park Authority’s holdings. It is a remarkable place of rare plants and splendid beauty. Yet that beauty is challenged by urban pollution and human destruction. It is a classic clash of land use between suburban sprawl and natural areas. In one of the pictures, you can see what happens on a weekly basis: Illegal drinking and swimming are occurring; mounds of trash and broken glass are left behind. Therefore, the Fairfax County Police Department will be increasing police patrols and issuing criminal citations. The FCPD and the Fairfax County Park Authority ask that you be good stewards. Do your part to take care of the park. Call 703-691-2131 if you observe any violations.
