Death Under Investigation in Centreville

Officers from the Sully Police District responded on Feb. 18 around 1 p.m. to the 6200 block of Prince Way for an unresponsive man and car that struck a townhouse.

Preliminary investigation determined that David Sifuentes, 29, of Centreville, was repairing his 2001 Volkswagen sedan which was parked on Prince Way. An 8-year-old boy was inside the car when Sifuentes asked him to start the car. Sifuentes was standing outside of the driver's side door when the vehicle starting moving in reverse. Sifuentes tired to stop the vehicle but it continued through the parking lot, over a curb, and struck a townhouse. Sifuentes, who had been holding on to the steering wheel, was thrown from the car and hit the ground. He was pronounced dead at the scene. There were no other injuries.

Detectives from the Crash Reconstructive Unit responded. Alcohol does not appear to be a contributing factor to the crash. The investigation is ongoing.
