RUN FOR A REASON

The 2nd Annual Defeat DIPG (diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma) Superhero Sprint (1K) and Superhero 6K will be run Sunday, May 28 at Westfield Montgomery in Bethesda.

Proceeds from the race will benefit the Michael Mosier Defeat DIPG Foundation, dedicated to raising funds for research.

The foundation was created in memory of Michael Mosier a 6-year-old from Bethesda who was diagnosed with DIPG, a type of pediatric brain cancer, as he started kindergarten at Seven Locks Elementary School. He died from the disease in May 2015.

This event — “an early start to the Fourth of July” — takes walkers and runners through neighborhood streets around the library while raising money for autism research.
