More than 20 furloughed Federal government workers and their families enjoyed supper and entertainment as the guests of Spring Hills Mt. Vernon Assisted Living served in part by seniors on Thursday, Jan. 24. It was a gesture of giving back and sharing their appreciation of government employees who may be experiencing hardships during the recent shutdown. Saxophonist Keith Kool-K Wilson entertained the diners.

Dinner was three courses, including loaded potato skins and meatballs for hors d’oeuvres; beef lasagna, coconut shrimp, baked ziti, salad choices and more for the entrée course; and desserts.

Spring Hills Mount Vernon, located at 3709 Shannons Green Way in Alexandria, provides assisted living and memory care. See www.springhillsmountvernon.com.
