In an informal survey, we asked people to name a few places in McLean that mattered to them in 2021, those that made them feel good, proud, and alive, and where stress melted away. "McLean, it's a great everything — schools, rec center, library. It's beautiful and safe," said Melissa Jenkins of McLean.

Here is a sampling of those places.

McLean Central Park, operated by Fairfax County Park Authority, offers paths, wooded and grassy areas, a disc golf course, tennis and basketball courts, a playground, and a gazebo for summer concerts.


The McLean Farmers Market operated by Fairfax County Park Authority features 16 vendors and is held Fridays from 8 a.m. to noon. It is located at 1659 Chain Bridge Rd. at Lewinsville Park and runs through Nov. 12 this year.
