U.S. Marshals Shoot Suspect at Potomac Yards

On Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2023, at approximately 12:46 p.m. the Alexandria Police Department responded to a shooting in the 3600 block of Richmond Highway. Upon arriving, officers learned the U.S. Marshals Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force located a wanted fugitive in the Potomac Yard shopping center. While the Regional Fugitive Task Force attempted to apprehend the suspect, he was shot. The suspect was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The Washington Post reported that members of the Fugitive Task Force were attempting to arrest a 37-year-old man who was wanted by the Talbot County, Md., sheriff’s office on attempted murder, assault and firearms charges, the Post reported.

The Post also reported that the injured suspect’s father said that a hospital nurse told him his son was shot nine times.
