City officials and local business leaders gathered as Crooked Beat Records owners Bill and Helen Daly celebrated the July 7 grand opening of the store’s new home on Mount Vernon Avenue in Del Ray.

“The pending block demolition of our North Fairfax location necessitated our move to a new location in the Del Ray neighborhood of Alexandria,” said the owners of the move from Old Town. “They are demolishing our former location to make room for a new apartment/condo building.”

Crooked Beat Records is now located in the basement of 2417 Mount Vernon Avenue. They share the location with Cheesetique, the Del Ray School Of Music and Piece Out Del Ray.

“This is one of Del Ray's newest and most anticipated businesses,” said Del Ray Business Association board member Gayle Reuter. “The community is so excited they chose Del Ray as their new home.”

The Daly’s closed the Old Town North location at the end of April, where it had been located since 2016.

“It’s great to see a business like yours coming to Del Ray,” said City Council Member Kirk McPike, who was on hand for the celebration. “You fit the vibe and get the deal here in Del Ray. We wish you all the success possible here in Alexandria.”
