Volunteer Opportunities for Students -- Breaks With Impact (BWI) is a chance for students - grades 6 through 12 - to learn about the issues facing their community and then act. Half-day programs are available in July.


Wednesday, July 19, Become a Volunteer Lead in Emergencies -- Between 6:30 and 8:30 p.m., learn about the Volunteer Reception Center (VRC), how it is activated in emergencies, and what you can do to assist in VRC training and drills.


Help with Back to School Day -- UNCUT Youth needs volunteers to assist with Back-to-School Community Day. Volunteers would help with setup, breakdown, and ongoing assistance throughout the day from 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.


Saturday, July 29, Share Fire Safety Information and Install Alarms -- Join the American Red Cross to visit homes in East Westover, install fire alarms, and share home fire safety information from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Food will be provided.


Beatley Library Group Seeks Board Vice President -- The Friends of Beatley Central Library is looking for a Vice President for its all-volunteer, non-profit board. The Vice Presidency is a 3-year term that assists with event planning and fundraising.


Mentor Girls through the Arts -- Mentor a girl in elementary school with Space of Her Own, an arts and STEM program designed to help them express themselves and step outside their comfort zone.


Help Domestic Violence Victims -- The City of Alexandria Domestic Violence Program is looking for volunteers to answer the 24-hour hotline and assist clients in the guest house.


Prepare Supplies for Children's Playgroup -- The Center for Alexandria’s Children offers Learn & PlayGroup sessions for young children and they are looking for volunteers to prepare and clean toys and materials for its weekly sessions.
