Courtney Prebich and David Mickalonis were wed Saturday, Oct. 18. Prebich, a firefighter and EMT with Ashburn Volunteer Fire and Rescue for the past six years requested a special favor from her fire station "family" for the wedding.
The bride beamed as she emerged from St. Theresa's Church in Ashburn and heard the wail of the siren and blast of the air horn on the Ashburn Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department's ceremonial fire engine. And it was no surprise that St. Florian, the patron saint of firefighters, was called upon during the wedding ceremony to offer special protection for the newly married couple.
