A Branch Too Close

Pepco contractor Asplundh trims tree branches around Pepco lines on MacArthur Boulevard in Potomac. At West Montgomery County Citizen's Association's meeting this week, a Pepco spokesman and forester explained some of the reasons behind the greatly increased tree trimming. Pepco is required by state regulations to trim trees and branches a set number of feet from power lines depending on the voltage, said Daniel Landry, senior staff forester for Pepco. Several WMCCA members decried lack of environmental concern in current tree trimming policies.
