Jay Edosomwan, a 10th-grader at Hargrave Military Academy, was named varsity basketball MVP and All-Conference. Jay is the son of Johnson and Mary Edosomwan of Fairfax Station.

<lst>Kimberly Ogren from Lake Braddock Secondary School was selected to attend this summer's Governor's School for Humanities at the University of Richmond. Each summer, 400 students who have demonstrated exceptional ability in their chosen field are invited to participate in either the Governor's School for the Humanities or Visual and Performing Arts' intensive four-week program of classes, workshops, field trips and special events designed to encourage students' individual growth as well as challenge them to achieve excellence in their fields.

Gov. Mark R. Warner named Silvia Y. Patton of Fairfax Station as one of the first appointments to the Virginia Asian Advisory Board. Patton is president of Fairview Park Florist and chairwoman of The Organization of Korean-American Women, Inc.

Donald Falkenstein of Burke, acting vice president for business and finance for the Council for Advancement and Support of Education, has been named to the permanent position. Falkenstein joined CASE in 1998 as controller and has served twice as acting vice president.

Nicolas Guillermo Troncoso, son of Luis Troncoso of Alexandria and Sylvia Troncoso of Burke, was named to the dean's list at Hargrave Military Academy in Chatham, Va., for the sixth six-week grading period of the 2002-03 school year. To be named to the list, a cadet must obtain a grade point average of 3.3 or above and not have any grade below a C.
