The Bull Run Elementary School Bulls are looking to avenge last year's loss setback to Centre Ridge Elementary Rams in the second annual School Pride basketball game, set for a 7 p.m. tip-off on Friday, April 13 at Centreville High School. The Bulls team came up short in 2006 despite a furious rally in front of a spirited crowd, losing 60-51 to their rivals. Both co-ed squads are composed of sixth-graders and school staffers. A cheer squad of adults and sixth-graders also will keep the crowd as adrenalized as the players on the court. The event is a fund-raiser for Bull Run's graduating sixth-grade class.
The Westfield High School DECA students are sponsoring a community pancake breakfast fund-raiser on Saturday, April 14 from 8-10 a.m. The breakfast will be held at Applebee's Restaurant, 4994 Westone Plaza, Chantilly. The menu will include pancakes, sausage, coffee and juice. Tickets are $5 per person and can be purchased at the door. Proceeds will help defray the costs of the students attending the national level of DECA competition. Some of the students will be competing on the national level for marketing-related events, having advanced from the state level. Other students will be attending a national DECA sponsored leadership conference.
