Winston Churchill High School ninth grader, Eric Lee, placed first for his division in the annual Final Frontier countywide competition in the Shuttle Arm event. Eric solely created the lightest shuttle arm device that successfully lifted a weight from the greatest distance while meeting specific space-related, engineering and science challenges for his division.
Churchill students that placed in the Final Frontiers competition as part of a team effort are the following: Trisha Avasthi and Hanna Walston were part of the team that won 1st place at the Mystery Event. Derek Gritz, Sam Gross and Alex Paraloglou were on the team that placed 2nd in the Bridge Event. Georges Hermes, William Weston-Dawkes and Justin Gura were on the team that won 3rd place at the Satellite Snatch Event. Daiki Okazaki and Derek Gritz were on the team that won 3rd place at the Newton’s Nightmare Event.
Michael Hess of Potomac, was awarded a bachelor of arts degree in history from Wagner College at the institution's annual commencement exercise last month.
