Fairfax Connector Proposes New Routes

Public input meeting held to solicit feedback on new bus routes.

The Fairfax County Department of Transportation kicked off the public input process for their new bus routes in McLean Thursday, Feb. 1. The Fairfax Connector routes will be altered to take advantage of the opening of Metrorail stations in Tysons Corner and Reston in December, with the new routes expected to begin the same day as the stations open.

The young women of the Connelly School of the Holy Child, their parents, siblings, grandparents, faculty and friends are eagerly awaiting the starting signal for this fun-filled yet challenging community event. The proceeds of the 5K run/walk will support both the Cabin John Fire Volunteer Fire Department and the wellness programs at the Connelly School of the Holy Child.

A passionate supporter of the arts and member of the Alexandria Democratic Committee, Arnold was diagnosed earlier this year with cancer and died suddenly Oct. 3 after a brief stay at the Halquist Memorial Hospice in Arlington.

Express Lanes Move Closer to Opening

As the construction equipment and debris is cleared from the new two left lanes going both ways on the Virginia side of the Beltway, the 495 Express Lanes are coming closer to opening. The variable-priced toll lanes will run over most of the Virginia section of the Beltway, and the $2 billion project has included the new lanes, as well as the rebuilding of bridges and overpasses along the way.
