Police Apprehend Juveniles

August 8, 2002

Three juvenile boys were taken into custody early Sunday morning following a report of a break-in at a school on Russell Road.

Police said that someone entered Maury Elementary School in the 600 block of Russell Road by force through a rooftop window. Security for the school alerted police and several units responded to the scene. Upon arrival, police discovered one suspect on the roof and took him into custody. A short time later, a second suspect was taken into custody as he exited one of the front doors of the school. Both suspects, a 13-year-old male city resident and a 15-year-old male city resident, were taken to police headquarters and charged with burglary.

Contact was made with the Juvenile Intake Officer and the juveniles were transported to the Northern Virginia Juvenile Detention Facility. Police also said there was a third juvenile, a 17-year-old male city resident, who was with the other two suspects but did not enter the school. He was charged with trespassing on school property.
