The Fairfax County Police Department's Traffic Safety Services Unit — and members of the Fair Oaks District Station's Bike Patrol Team — conducted an alcohol sting, last Thursday, Dec. 12, at 27 locations within the Fair Oaks District.
The sting is part of the Youth Alcohol Campaign and was carried out by having under-age police cadets dressed in plain clothing attempt to purchase alcoholic beverages.
Police say alcoholic beverages were allegedly sold to the cadets at three local grocery stores: Giant Food, 5740 Union Mill Road, Clifton; Grand Market, 5900 Centreville Crest Lane, Centreville; and Safeway, 5111 Westfields Blvd., Centreville.
Clerks at the following locations DID NOT sell alcoholic beverages to the cadets:
Shoppers Food Warehouse, 8335 Multiplex Drive, Centreville; Giant Food, 14125 Lee Highway, Centreville; Giant Food, 5615 Stone Road, Centreville; Food Lion, 13065 Fair Lakes Drive, Chantilly; Food Lion, 3061 Centreville Road, Oak Hill; CVS, 3071 Centreville Road, Oak Hill, Giant Food, 13330 Franklin Farms Drive, Franklin Farms; 7-Eleven, 14515 Lee Jackson Memorial Hwy., Chantilly; and Safeway, 12200 West Ox Road, Fair Oaks.
Clerks also DID NOT sell alcoholic beverages to the cadets at the following Chantilly locations:
