Virginia Commerce Bancorp, Inc. reported second quarter earnings of $1.9 million, an increase of 59.4 percent over 2001 second quarter earnings of $1.2 million. Total assets as of June 30, 2002 were $577.8 million, up 24 percent from $464 million as of June 30 last year. Virginia Commerce Bancorp, Inc. is the parent company of Virginia Commerce Bank, a full-service community bank headquartered in Arlington, with 13 branches and two mortgage lending offices serving Northern Virginia.

George Munoz, of Arlington, president of Munoz Investment Banking Group, has been appointed to the Board of the Virginia College Building Authority by Virginia Gov. Mark Warner.

Arlington-based Linda Roth Associates, LLC (LRA) has announced the appointments of Carrie Foster and Andrew Fisher to the position of account executive.

Before joining LRA, Foster served as press secretary for Representative Richard Burr (R-North Carolina). A resident of Capitol Hill, she began her career in Washington as a media relations assistant for APCO Worldwide, Inc. She graduated from Wake Forest University in 1998 with a B.A. in politics and communications.

Fisher worked in marketing and public relations roles in the defense engineering and information technology industries with Rolls-Royce North America, and later in the information technology division of IKON Office Solutions. He is a 1998 graduate of American University's School of Communication.
