Chamber Seeks Award Nominations

New Officers Are Installed

The McLean Chamber of Commerce last week installed the officers who were elected at the annual meeting on May 15.

President Bill DuBose of Capitol Financial Partners was re-elected for a second one-year term.

“The businesses of the greater McLean area have been subjected to a very tough business climate made worse by the events of Sept. 11,” DuBose said. “This difficult economy has been especially harsh on our smaller members.”

He praised the success of the Chamber’s first golf tournament, the “Greater McLean Open.”

“This was an important fund-raiser for the Chamber,” DuBose said.

“I am also very proud of our “Shop McLean First” campaign.

“This program is designed to focus attention on the many fine retailers, restaurants and service providers in the greater McLean area. We have distributed stickers and shopping bags to our members and the community.”

The chamber is seeking nominations for the 2002 Business Awards to be presented at a banquet on Sept. 26, said executive director Elise Neil Benson.

Categories include Outstanding Business, Entrepreneur of the Year, Innovative Business Person, and Nonprofit Association of the Year.

Nominees must be members of the McLean Chamber of Commerce.

Nomination forms are available by calling 703-356-5424. The deadline is July 15.
