The Loudoun Education Foundation awarded two college scholarships, totaling $10,000, to Amanda Ruane and Anna Rbiatsev, two Sterling seniors from Park View High School.

<lst>Loudoun County Public Schools will offer Summer Computer Camp for students currently enrolled in grades 1-3. Children will complete multi-media projects that incorporate and extend technology skills taught in the classroom during the school year. Students will also work with drawing, painting, word-processing and Web-browsing software. The camp consists of seven weekday sessions, June 20-June 28, 9 to 11 a.m., held at four locations: Algonkian Elementary, Ball’s Bluff Elementary, Hillside Elementary, and Rolling Ridge Elementary. The 12 openings at each location will be filled on a first come, first served basis. Registration forms were sent home with students by May 17. Parents should contact their child's school if they did not receive one. The cost is $75. For more information, call 703-771-6408.

Katelyn Vieten and Michelle C. Zinda, both graduating seniors of Broad Run High School, and Sandra E. Lawson, a graduating senior of Park View High School, were selected for the Reston Hospital Center Medical Staff and Volunteer Scholarship as a result of their academic achievements and interest in pursuing health care careers. All three students will attend James Madison University.

The Virginia Band and Orchestra Directors Association has recognized the Potomac Falls High School band as an Honor Band for the 2001-2002 school year. This award is the highest that can be bestowed on a high school band in the commonwealth. This is the fourth year in a row that Potomac Falls has been a Virginia State Honor Band.

The Loudoun County Board of Supervisors honored high school seniors with Loudoun Volunteer Services scholarships for their significant volunteer efforts. The honorees include Mia Hampton of Broad Run High School, John Patton of Park View High School, Jessica Jones of Potomac Falls High School and Meghan Schneider of Stone Bridge High School. Each student received a $500 scholarship.

Project Graduation, an "All Night Alcohol/Drug/Smoke Free Celebration" for Potomac Falls High School graduates, will take place on June 15 from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. Tickets are on sale for $50.
