Brave Americans at Union Mill

First-graders from Mrs. Procci's classroom at Union Mill Elementary provided a three-part dramatic program on March 1. The first segment was the play "Ruby Bridges," which told the 1960 story of Ruby Nell Bridges being the first African American to attend an all-white New Orleans school.

The second segment featured each child displaying a handmade paper version of brave Americans like Rosa Parks, Abraham Lincoln and George Washington Carver and reading about their contribution to America's history.

The program closed with first-grader Ben Rupert playing "God Bless America" on violin.
