Clearing of trees on Newbridge Drive started this past week to make room for the Victory Housing Project, which is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2003. Victory Terrace will be a 72-unit assisted-living facility, and was approved by the Board of Appeals. "We took the time to work with the neighborhood and didn't rush into anything and were able to reach common ground on everything," said David Parrish, vice president of Victory Housing. Hamel Builders, Inc. is the contractor and will be working on the facility for the next 12 months. Parrish said the contractor, Victory Housing and members of the neighborhood have formed a liaison committee to keep residents aware of the construction schedule. "We wanted residents to meet the contractor; that was a large part of the initial meeting, to get everyone to know everybody. We wanted the contractor to be aware of the concerns of the neighborhood."
