“Personal Safety,” the popular crime prevention class for women, will be held Sept. 9, 11, 16 and 18 from 7-10 p.m. at the Vienna community Center, located at 120 Cherry St. S.E. The class includes basic education in crime prevention and risk reduction measures, and practice in physical self-defense techniques. The Vienna Parks and Recreation Department’s fall co-ed softball league begins play Sept. 9. Games will be played on weeknights at Vienna’s Southside Park. The registration fee of $400 per team includes 14 regular-season double-header games, a postseason tournament, umpire fees, softballs, and awards. Memorial service for the victims of Sept. 11, 2001, will be held Sept. 11, 2002, at the gazebo at the Village Centre Condominium Association in Great Falls from 7-7:45 p.m. The event will be conducted by the Rev. Vienna Presbyterian Church, located at 124 Park St. in Vienna invites area residents to join its members in a worship service at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 11, to focus on remembrance and hope.
