<sh>Sully Supervisor's New Office

<bt>Supervisor Michael R. Frey (R-Sully) has officially moved his office, this week, into the new Sully Governmental Center/Sully District Police Station building. It's at 4900 Stonecroft Boulevard in Chantilly, near the Safeway, off Westfields Boulevard and Route 28. Frey's new phone number is 703-814-7100.

The new community room in that building is divided in two parts. One half will be named after the late community activist James McDonnell, as in Frey's old building, and the other half will be named in honor of another community activist, Dick Frank, who died last month. The police department is expected to open for business in the new building on Saturday, May 3.

<sh>Boy Scout Flea Market

<bt>Boy Scout Troop 893 will host its 30th Annual Flea Market on Saturday, April 26, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., at 13955 Metrotech Drive in Chantilly — across from K-Mart and Babies R Us. Items for sale include: furniture, housewares, sports equipment, books, clothes for the entire family, electronics and white-elephant merchandise. There are lots of great bargains, and there's plenty of parking.

<sh>Anti-Tax Tea Party

<bt>The Virginia Club for Growth and The Northern Virginia Republican PAC will hold a Fairfax County Anti-Tax Tea Party on Saturday, April 26, from 4:30-6 p.m. at the Fairfax County Government Center's amphitheater.

Like the Boston Tea Party in 1773, this one will protest the county real-estate tax increases. Speaking will be candidates for the Board of Supervisors who have pledged to vote against these tax increases and limit them to grow no faster than family budgets. Call James Parmelee at 703-502-0161.

<sh>Road Closures are Planned

<bt>* Monday, April 28, starting at 9 a.m., Braddock Road will be closed from the Loudoun County line to the intersection of Pleasant Valley Road. Local traffic will only be permitted. The roadway will re-open at 2 p.m. this same day.

* Tuesday, April 29, starting at 9 a.m. Braddock Road will be closed from Route 661 (Old Lee Road) to the intersection of Pleasant Valley Road (609). Local traffic will only be permitted. The road will re-open at 2 p.m.

* Wednesday, April 30, the same protocol will apply, but Pleasant Valley Road will be closed from Braddock Road to Martins Hundred Drive (the end of the four-lane portion of Pleasant Valley). The same times will apply.

<sh>Hugo Hosts VDOT Meeting

<bt>Del. Tim Hugo (R-40th) will host a transportation town hall meeting on Tuesday, April 29, at 7 p.m. with Virginia Department of Transportation leaders to discuss transportation projects, issues and concerns in western Fairfax County. It will be held in the Virginia Run Community Center, 15355 Wetherburn Court, off Route 29 and Pleasant Valley Road in Centreville. Call 703-380-7334.

<sh>Public Comment on Stormwater Management Program

<bt>Fairfax County citizens are invited to comment on a report outlining recommended changes to policies, practices and regulations that guide the county’s current stormwater management program. A public meeting will be held Wednesday, April 30, at 7 p.m. at the Fairfax County Government Center in conference rooms 2-3.

<sh>Parking Garage Opens at Dulles

<bt>A new parking garage opened at Dulles International Airport, last Tuesday, April 15. This is the second garage opened at the airport, and it's directly across from the main entrance to the terminal. There are approximately 3,600 parking spaces in Daily Garage 2, and 4,600 spaces will be added with the opening of Daily Garage 1.

<sh>Luck Stone Gets OK'd

<bt>The Fairfax County Board of Zoning Appeals (BZA) on Tuesday gave a unanimous approval to the Luck Stone quarry, off Route 29 in Centreville. It extended the quarry's operating permit for five more years.

<sh>Blood is Still Needed

<bt>The Inova Blood Donor Center in the Centremed I Building on Route 29 in Centreville (across from the Centreville Multiplex Cinemas) is still in urgent need of blood donations — especially O positive or negative, as well as A and B. They are accepted Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, noon-8 p.m.; Wednesday, 9 a.m.-8 p.m. and Saturday, 8 a.m.-2 p.m.

To make an appointment to give blood, call 703-322-1970, or just drop in at your own convenience. According to the Inova Health System, it only takes an hour to donate blood, and each donation can save the lives of three people.
