Fairfax County Crime Solvers

<bt>Fairfax County Crime Solvers is asking the public's assistance in identifying the person responsible for the Jan. 23 robbery at the Bank of America at 12011 Lee Jackson Memorial Hwy. in Chantilly. Around 10:30 p.m., two people pulled into the drive-through area to drop a nighttime money bag into the slot.

But as they got out of the car, a man ran toward them with a handgun and demanded the money bag. The victims threw the bag of money to the suspect, who caught it and fled the area on foot. The suspect is described as black, in his 20s, between 5 feet 11 inches and 6 feet tall, and approximately 180 pounds.

He wore dark clothing, a dirty rag tied around his face, a baseball cap and gloves. Anyone with information about this incident or the suspect is asked to call Crime Solvers at 1-800-673-2777 or 703-691-8888. A $1,000 cash reward will be paid for information which leads to an arrest.

<sh>Busy Kids Gets an OK

<bt>The Busy Kids Child Care Center currently takes care of 65 children from about 40 families. But it now needs a special-exception permit from Fairfax County so that it may expand its operation. It's in the Sully Plaza Shopping Center in Chantilly and, if it's allowed to take over the vacant store-space next to it, it will have room to care for 100 children.

There's a lighted, 2,400-square-foot playground behind the facility with room for 24 children at a time. The children attend four local schools and, where necessary, the center provides pick-up and drop-off services.

Details of the expansion proposal were presented at the Feb. 3 meeting of the Sully District Land-Use and Transportation Committee, and the members then unanimously passed a motion recommending approval to the Planning Commission, subject to an OK from county staff.
