At South Lakes High School

Many artists in the IB diploma program at South Lakes had the opportunity to display pieces on which they have worked over the past two years on Saturday, Jan. 18. This “IB Night” was organized by senior IB students because diploma candidates can fulfill their creative hours requirement only if their works are displayed. Students were able to exhibit their efforts and enjoy each other’s artwork.

The Little Theatre was used for an entire day of festivities for the Martin Luther King, Jr. celebration on Monday, Jan. 20. Dozens of performance groups participated in the event, among which were the Reston Chorale, the South Lakes BHS Step Team and the South Lakes Singers. Thousands of audience members came and went throughout the course of the day.

The SLICE International Club has begun preparations for its annual variety show. Auditions for the show, which is to take place in March, were recently held. Acts will range from singing and dancing to modeling contemporary fashions from countries around the globe.

Choral and orchestra students are preparing for a different kind of show, also to take place in March. Singers and string players will head for New York City to see the city lights, enjoy new interpretations of classic musicals, and perform for adjudication.
